Whoosh – or at least, whoosh in the sense of the usually-glacially-slow-publishing-process, raised to the power of a COVID-induced-reality!
It is a common story to hear how book projects take considerably longer than expected, have myriad delays, and come to fruition long after might have been expected in comparison to commercial projects.
Not this time – our Managing Director Carolyn reports that somehow the coronavirus situation has contrived to make things go faster, at least up to this point in the book project.
Perhaps it is the lack of other distractions – the manuscript called for by the publisher in April has already been provided, sent out for peer review, returned with a strong recommendation for publication by the reviewer, and then endorsed by the publishers’ editorial process. There are some modest tweaks suggested in light of the ‘unfolding’ situation with COVID-19, but the final manuscript should be on the wire back to kick start the typesetting process in a matter of days.
Who knows if that cracking pace will continue – but the part of the process that is legendary for spinning on and on has really just whooshed by, aided and abetted by a never-ending stream of caffeine pouring out of the in-house ‘cafe’!
